What are the minimum requirements to rent a vehicle?

License Requirement: Valid license for all vehicle classes/categories.
What payment methods do you accept for the rental?
We accept Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Mercado Pago (for pre-paid web reservations).
What are the conditions for a refund on reservations?
For reservations pre-paid through www.gamarent.cl, a 100% refund will be applied to the holder of the credit or debit card for bookings canceled with 76 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled pickup date and time. The cancellation must be communicated to Gama Rent a Car via email or through the website. No refund applies to reservations canceled with less than 76 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled pickup date and time. No refunds will be given for pre-paid No Show reservations, or for unused pre-paid rental days or contracts. In case of a refund, the amount will be charged back to the original cardholder’s credit card within approximately 15 business days from the date of cancellation. The final date the funds are returned to the bank account will depend on the card-issuing bank. Refunds are not granted for unused days of a reservation or when the user fails to meet the rental requirements (e.g., minimum age, identity documents, valid license, credit card limit), or if the client decides to decline the rental directly at our offices. Cancellations must be reported via reservas@gamarent.cl.
How much is the security deposit?
It will depend on the vehicle selected and the number of days.
Can I pay the security deposit with a check or cash?
No, the security deposit must be paid only with a credit card. The refund period will depend on the terms established by the issuing entity.
What driver's license do I need?
You can drive in Chile with a valid driver’s license. If you are a foreign national, the license from your country of origin is acceptable.
Is there a fuel surcharge?
Vehicles are provided with fuel and must be returned with the same fuel level as registered at the time of pickup. Otherwise, a refueling charge will be applied. No refunds will be given if the vehicle is returned with a higher fuel level.
What types of additional charges might be applied?
- Additional charge for returning the vehicle to a different branch than the one where it was picked up.
- TAG, tolls, or similar fees.
- Loss of vehicle documents.
- Additional services or coverages requested by the customer.
- Insurance deductible in case of accidents, rollovers, or theft.
- After-hours return fees.

What should I do in case of an accident or theft?
You must immediately notify the Carabineros de Chile (Chilean Police). Then, notify Gama Rent a Car (within a maximum period of 24 hours) via email at siniestros@gamarent.cl, with the following information:
- Photocopy of the police report or complaint.
- Driver’s license of the driver.
- Identity card (both sides).
- Detailed account of the incident/claim.

What coverage is included in the insurance?
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): Your rental includes damage coverage; it is possible to limit liability in case of vehicle damage to a determined deductible.
